The Ocean Springs High baseball team is off to just about as good of a start to a season as anyone in the state.
And now, the hometown fans, along with prep baseball aficionados from all over the state, will get to see the Region 4-7A leading Greyhounds in action against some top competition outside of the league several times this week.
Ocean Springs is in the midst of one of its busiest spans of the regular season, with four home games at Greyhound Park in five days that began over the weekend and continues Monday night.
The Greyhounds are 10-0 overall and 6-0 in the region race after a three game sweep of Harrison Central last week. Ocean Springs now begins ation in the 10th annual Battle at the Beach event facing Jackson Prep to kick things off Monday night for the third straight season.


Ocean Springs remains at home both Tuesday and Wednesday nights to face two other foes from the Jackson area in Madison Ridgeland Academy on Tuesday night and Madison Central on Wednesday night.
Games on Monday and Tuesday night are set for 7:30 p.m., and the game Wednesday is slated for 7 p.m.
Ocean Springs beat Harrison Central 5-0 to open the series last week at home and then took a 9-2 win on the road in Lyman three days later on Friday night. The Greyhounds wrapped things up with a second shutout win in the series 6-0 back at home Saturday afternoon.
Starting pitchers Johan Baez picked up the first shutout win on Tuesday, then Manny Huffman turned in the same type of effort Saturday as each went six solid stanzas.

On Friday, A.J. Rossi collected two hits and drove in two runs to pace OSHS offensively.In addition to the three OSHS games over the next three days at Greyhound Park, there will be quite a few other teams in action there as 13 different teams will converge on the venue for action over a three day span.
After just three venues hosted games over the first three days of BATB action late last week, Monday marks the expanison to eight different sites all across the “Southern Six” for the annual affair.
