VANCLEAVE — Tupelo snapped Vancleave’s five-game win streak in dramatic fashion Tuesday night.
The visiting Golden Wave rallied for a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to erase a 1-0 deficit and pull out an exciting 2-1 win in action at the 10th annual Battle at the Beach. The decision moves Tupelo to 8-3 overall, and drops the Bulldogs to 6-3.

Vancleave starting pitcher Dane McElroy twirled six innings of four-hit, shout ball to place his squad in prime position to extend said winning streak, and the Bullogs broke through in the bottom of the sixth to break up a 0-0 deadlock and take a 1-0 lead on an RBI-double by Wyatt Adams. His hit plated Harris Henry, who led the frame off with a single.
But the lead wouldn’t last long, as McElroy was replaced on the mound to begin the top of the seventh by Chase Parker, and it would take long for Tupelo to erase the deficit. Zac Zimmerman greeted Parker with a single, and Brody Wilson followed with what turned out to be a decisive two-run home run to make it 2-1.

Wilson has starred on the mound for the Golden Wave, as he matched McElroy almost step for step, then returned to the hill and recorded a 1-2-3 inning to close out the improbable win.
Wilson tossed a complete game, striking out eight and scattering six hits while walking just one to earn the win.
Parker took the loss.
Both teams contiune with play in BATB, as Tupelo meets MRA in St. Martin Tuesday afternoon and Vancleave hosts Briarcrest Christian Thursay night at 7.
