‘Tis the season…
For changes in the head coaching chairs in prep basketball circles all across the state of Mississippi, as well as the “Southern Six”.
The D’Iberville girls head coaching post is open, after Robin Jefferies stepped down as the leader of the Lady Warriors late last week. She spent five seasons in that post, and led DHS to the state playoffs twice.
She guided the Lady Warriors to a 21-6 record and the top seed in the regular season in Region 7-6A in 2022-2023, which was her best mark during her time at DHS. But, DHS fell to 5-19 and 4-21 over the past two seasons.

“Coach Jeffries has been a great contributor to DHS over her tenure here,” Harrison County Schools Athletics Director Kevin Roberts said, Wednesday afternoon. “She’s a very knowledgeable coach with great insight on the game and has had a great career in the field. Very professional. We appreciate her contributions here at DHS and look forward to seeing her success at her next stop.”
Before Jefferies came to D’Iberville, she spent several seasons in the same capacity at Poplarville High in the same capacity. Prior to that, she spent a short stint as the AD at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

She also was the AD and head coach at St. Patrick for three years before heading to Perk. Jeffries also had a variety of positions in coaching and administration during her professional career, including time as head women’s basketball coach at Millsaps College and Spring Hill College. She was also senior women’s administrator during her time at Millsaps.
Jeffries, who graduated from Brookhaven Academy, played basketball at Mississippi State from 1985-1988. She completed her bachelor’s degree in exercise science at The University of Southern Mississippi. Jeffries also has a master’s in education, completed at the University of Houston in 1995. She started her teaching career at St. Pius X High School in Houston in 1991, moving to Klein (Texas) High School in 1997.

Jeffries took her first college coaching job at Millsaps in 1999 and moved to Spring Hill in 2006. Jeffries was a professor in the sports medicine department at Belhaven College from 2001-6 and 2008-11, and she owned a personal training studio from 2007-10.
The D’iberville girls head coaching job and the Pascagoula boys job are the only two current head coaching openings in that department in the “Southern Six” currently.
