VANCLEAVE — The boys aren’t having all of the fun during the annual Battle at the Beach action this week.
The softball side of things swung into action as well over the last few days and late Wednesday afternoon home-standing Vancleave nipped Picayune 4-3 with a come-from-behind effort after being down 3-0 in the fourth inning.

The Lady Bulldogs got two hits from Presleigh Tapp and a to-run double from Carly Wyatt in the winning effort, while Wyatt also went the distance in the circle to earn the pitching win.
Madelyn Sullivan drove in two runs with one hit for Picayune, while Kadie Rushing took the loss.
Vancleave followed that up with a big 9-1 win over Bay High.

Bea Buice had a solo home run for the Lady Tigers, and both she and Katie Velwahld had a pair of hits apiece for BHS.
The Lady Bulldogs got a game-high three hits from Emma Hammons, while Sophia Hollimon, Brianna Webster and Braelin Swetman all added two hits apiece to the winning effort. Sewtman tripled and Hollimon doubled.
Vancleave is 7-8-1 overall.
