Prep Softball: Lady Greyhounds take down West Harrison in Region 4-7A action Tuesday

OCEAN SPRINGS — Ocean Springs stayed atop the Region 4-7A softball race with a 12-5 win over visiting West Harrison on a blustery Tuesday afternoon here on the OSHS campus.
The win pushed the Lady Greyhounds to 11-6 overall, and 3-0 in the region race. The Lady ‘Canes are now 6-10 overall and 0-3 in league play.

West Harrison got two home runs from Braleigh Cuevas in the game, including a three-run shot to left field in the first frame that put the visitors up 3-0 to get the game going.
But OSHS bounced back in fine fashion with five runs in the bottom of the second, including a key two-run single by Kerrigan Scott, to take a 5-3 lead, and then a two-run home run by Gracie Shepherd in the next inning made it 7-3 Lady Greyhounds.
Laynee Davis cracked a solo home run for the home team in the fifth frame, and Taylor Farra’s two-run single in the sixth was the big blow in a four-run eruption to seal the deal.

Shepherd collected three hits and three RBIs to pace OSHS offensively, while Farra also drove in three runs. Scott also posted a three hit, two RBI worksheet for the Lady Greyhounds,
Both Cuevas and Maddy Tarver had two hits apiece for WHHS, and Cuevas’ four RBI total was a game-high.
Emma Franklin went the distance in the circle for OSHS to pick up the pitching win, striking out 11.
Tarver also hurled a complete game for the Lady ‘Canes, and took the loss.
