CARRIERE — One of the most productive players in Pearl River Central girls basketball program history is coming home.
Sources close to the situation have indicated to SouthMiss6 Sports that Caroline Lumpkin is leaving a similar post at Pass Christian to take over as the head girls head coach at her alma mater, Pearl River Central.
The move is pending Pearl River County School Board approval.
Lumpkin just wrapped up her third season at the helm of the Lady Pirates, where she went 26-58 overall in her first-ever head coaching job.

Lumpkin took over for Greta Ainsworth, who retired after 14 years at Pass Christian High School as the girls’ head basketball coach leading the team 12 second round appearances in the state playoffs while winning six district championships.
Lumpkin had a standout prep career at Pearl River Central, where the 2013 graduate collected more than 1,000 points and 500 rebounds en route to various all-star honors. She was also inducted into the Pearl River Central Hall of Fame.

She went on to play at Copiah-Lincoln Community College from 2013-15, and transferred to William Carey, where she played from 2015-17 before earning a spot as a student assistant after her playing career was over.
During the 2018-19 season, Pearl River Community College hired Lumpkin to the coaching staff, working two seasons under head coach oach Scotty Fletcher.
Lumpkin made the transition to high school with St. Martin two years later, before joining the Bay High staff last year under then head coach Kelton Thompson.
Pass Christian missed the state playoffs playoffs last season, finishing 9-19.
Lumkin is expected to replace Cliff Bauer at PRC, after he stepped down last month. Bauer was 22-51 also in three seasons at the helm of the Lady Blue Devils. PRC qualified for the Class 6A South State playoffs last year.
