Prep Baseball: Admirals complete three game sweep over arch-rival Indians Friday afternoon, 1-0

BILOXI — Not only was it a good Friday for the Gulfport High baseball team, but it was a good week as well.
The Admirals bounced back from a rough week last week in fine fashion this week, completing a three game sweep of arch-rival Biloxi Friday afternoon with a close 1-0 win here at The Biloxi High Sports Complex.
The trio of wins in Region 4-7A play allow the Admirals to sail back into contention for a shot at homefield advantage in the opening round of the upcoming Class 7A South State playoffs, as they move to 8-4 in the region race and 13-9 overall.

Gulfport was swept by Ocean Springs last week.
On Friday afternoon, Bash Plummer singled for the Admirals to start the top of the third and he came around to score on an RBI-ground out by Kamden Kelly for the only run of the game.
And that would be all Gulfport starting pitcher Tavion Collier would need, as he hurled a complete game shutout, scattering five hits.
Biloxi starter Broday Nguyen matched Collier toe-to-toe on the mound, also turning in a complete game worksheet, and limiting GHS to just two singles. But alas, Nguyen suffered the tough luck loss.
The Indians are quickly seeing their playoff chances vanish, as they fall to 3-12 in the region race and 7-16 overall.

On Thursday night, in an 11-4 game two win at home for Gulfport, Mason Little guided the Admirals with two hits, including a two-run home run, and a game-high three RBIs in the victory.
Tico Hebert also had two hits for the Admirals, and Brodie Hignight added a two-run double.
Carter Carriere picked up the win. Meade Myers took the loss for BHS.
Gage Dalferes had a game-high three hits, and he drove in two runs for the Indians.

Also, Hignight had a pair of doubles and James Van Slyke drove in a game-high three runs on Tuesday as GHS won the series opener on the road 7-3.
Little got the win, and Thomas Stennis earned a save.
