GAUTIER — Hancock hasn’t won 20 baseball games in a season in at least 40 years.
However, the Hawks stand on the verge of doing just that after completing a sweep of Gautier Friday afternoon.
Hancock grounded the Gators 15-3 in just four frames in the series finale, here on the campus of Gautier High.

The win keeps the Hawks perfect at 9-0 in the region race under new head coach Neil Walther, and moves HHS to 19-2 overall, which is also the most wins in a season for the program in at least four decades as well, according to some research.
On Friday, Hancock bagged 11 hits in just four innings offensively, led by senior standout Jaxson Knight who posted game-high totals in both hits with three and RBIs with four. As part of his impressive worksheet, he cracked a two-run home run with no outs in the top of the first to set the tone for the rest of the day.
James Stieler chipped in two hits and he drove in three runs to the winning attack, while Carson Harris had a double also. Freshman Kanyon Cuevas had two hits as well.

Ian McInnis blasted a three-run home run for Gautier to account for all of the Gators runs.
Herion Figueora took the loss, as GHS dropped to 1-8 in the region race and 6-13 overall.
Thursday night, in an 8-3 home win for the Hawks, sophomore Hayden Ladner collected a game-high three hits and had two RBIs, while Stieler added a pair of hits and Kanyon Cuevas had a double.
Tripp Peterson earned the win.
Dakkoda Jackson took the loss for GHS, while offensively both McInnis and Elijah Boose had a double apiece.
