Prep Softball: Lady Pirates nip Lady Warriors 8-7 in 8 innings

D’IBERVILLE — Both Pass Christian and D’Iberville appear headed toward state prep softball playoff berths later this month.
But first, the pair of “Southern Six” squads tuned up to complete regular season action in an exciting match-up to end last week.

The visiting Lady Pirates nipped the Lady Warriors 8-7 in eight innings on Good Friday, as PCHS moved to 18-5-1 overall and DHS dropped to 13-5-1.
Mia Lacy carried the big stick all night for Pass, as she collected a game-high four hits, including a pair of doubles, and a game-high three RBIs. But none were more important than an RBI-single that led off the eighth frame for the decisive run.
Both Ivy Stringer and Bristol Jones each had two hits and an RBI apiece as well for PCHS, while Dalijah Littles drove in two runs and Kayden Scheid had a double in the winning attack.

The strikeout machine Jones picked up the pitching win in relief of Scheid, as she continued to add to her “K” total with 13 punchouts in just five innings of work. She has over 200 strikeouts on the season.
Ayanna Mitchell had a two-run double for DHS, while Emmerson Hall, Annah Nicely and Kieleigh West each posted a double apiece as well.
Londyn Ford took the loss with 72/3 innings of work in the circle.
