Prep Baseball: Greyhounds rally for 5-4 walk-off win over Warriors Tuesday night

OCEAN SPRINGS — Ocean Springs has five chances to win its third straight Region 4-7A title.
The home-standing Greyhounds rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to snatch an exciting 5-4 walk off win away from D’Iberville Tuesday night, further strengthening their hold on the top spot in the league standings. The decision moves OSHS to a sparkling 21-2 overall, and a perfect 13-0 in the region race, while second place DHS drops to 9-4 in the loop and 16-7 overall. Both teams, along with St. Martin, which also sits at 9-4, have five league games left.

Adam Clower’s two-run double with no outs in the last at bat for OSHS provided the decisive runs, after the Warriors rallied from a 3-1 deficit with a three-spot in the top of the sixth to take the lead.

“That was a great team win, I’m proud of the way our guys kept playing and battled all the way through.” third-year OSHS head coach Ryne Long said. :We had some guys make some really big pitches in big spots, a couple clutch hits and played good defense to give our selves a chance to win. That’s a tough team to beat over there, they are a veteran group that’s been in the thick of it. Those guys are well coached, great team speed and are really disciplined at the plate, and have the arms to make things really tough.”

Tristan Fox collected a game-high three hits, including a double, to pace the game-winning 11-hit attack for OSHS, while Clower posted a pair of doubles, including that game-winner, as well as a game-high three RBIs. Both A.J. Rossi and Cole McNally also chipped in two hits apiece for the Greyhounds, and both Easton Bahr and Justin San Miguel each had a double apiece.
Colton French, the final of four OSHS pitchers, picked up the win with one inning of relief work.

Ayden Demoran took the loss for DHS, even though he went six stanzas and struck out 15 before the trouble came in the seventh.
Demoran and Griffin Allen also had a pair of hits apiece for the Warriors, while Jaylen Johnson had a double and he drove in two runs. Allen also had a double.
