PASCAGOULA — For the first time ever, Pearl River Central is in sole possession of the Region 4-6A lead.
The Blue Devils thumped home-standing Pascagoula Tuesday night 11-0 in just five frames, to move to a perfect 10-0 in the league standings. That decision, combined with a Picayune win over Hancock, pushed PRC into sole possession of first place in the region race with five league games left.

Blue Devil pitcher Roman Mitchell tossed a complete game one-hitter, striking out six in earning the win.
Offensively, the Blue Devils steadily compiled a 7-0 lead through four innings before breaking the game open with a four run fifth stanza that ended things early.
Kendall Morrison collected a game-high four RBIs on two hits, including a two-run home run in the fourth frame and a two-run single in that fifth inning uprising, to pace PRC at the plate. Landyn Wilson added a solo home run and had two RBIs in the win, while Talon Cipriano had two hits and drove in two runs as well. Eric Mavor also had two hits.

Carlos Fernandez started and took the loss for the Panthers. Brayden Knowles finished up.
PRC moved to 18-5 overall, while PHS dropped to 6-17 overall and sits at 3-7 in the region race. Despite the loss, the Panthers remain in the fourth and final spot for seeding purposes as the upcoming Class 6A South State playoffs approach.
The two teams will meet right back in Pascagoula again on Thursday night, before concluding the series in Carriere on Friday night.
