The dust finally settled on the baseball diamond in Region 8-4A Saturday.
And when all was said and done, both Pass Christian and Bay High secured state playoff spots while Moss Point came up short once again.
On Saturday afternoon, in the series finale of a three game affair between longtime rivals Pass Christian and Bay High, the home-standing Pirates sealed the series win with a 10-4 win.
Pass Christian finishes the season up as the third seed at 5-7 in the region race, while Bay High takes the fourth seed at 3-9.

On Saturday, in the battle for the higher seed, the Pirates stretched out an early 2-0 lead with a five run second stanza to take complete control en route to the win.
“These two games were like playoff baseball” PCHS head coach Ricky Smith said. “There was something on the line for both teams.”
Kayleb Munsch had two hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs for PCHS while Stephen Tinsley also posted a pair of hits. Cooper Lyrock and Jayden Traylor also drove in two runs apiece in the winning effort.
Raymond Fitzgerald tossed six solid stanzas on the mound to pick up the pitching win for the Pirates.
Benton Ladner took the loss for the Tigers.
Brayden Pepperman had two hits for BHS and Frederick Weems drove in two runs also.

On Friday night, home-standing Bay High took advantage of a pair of Pass Christian errors in the bottom of the ninth inning to get their fourth win of the season and clinch a spot in the playoffs.
Pepperman sent a spicy grounder through the infield that was mishandled by the Pirates and rolled into the outfield to score Tucker Monti from second base to give the Tigers the exciting win in the second game of the three-game series.
Pepperman also scored from third base on a pitch that got past the catcher to tie the game at 6-6 in the bottom of the sixth to take the game into extra innings.

The Pirates would finish with one more hit (10-9) than the Tigers, but they would also have more errors than the Tigers (5-2). And those errors proved to be the difference, particularly in the bottom of the ninth.
At the plate, Pepperman led the Tigers with three singles, followed by Brennan Bilich, Carson Brown and Kyle Vance who each recorded a single. Benton Ladner added a double.
“The guys competed,” said Bay High coach Justin Barna. “It’s a rivalry game. Our school is ten minutes from theirs. They’re not going to quit. No matter what the score is, you compete until the last out. They’re starting to understand what it takes to win ballgames.”
Both teams will open the Class 4A South State playoffs on the road Friday.
