Prep Softball: Hancock solidifies second spot in Region 4-6A with sweep of Pascagoula

KILN — Home-standing Hancock took a major step towards securing homefield advantage in the opening round of the Class 6A South State playoffs Friday night.

The Lady Hawks completed a two game sweep of Pascagoula in Region 4-6A play with an 11-3 win over Pascagoula. The pair of wins over the Lady Panthers moved Hancock to 6-2 in the region race, good enough to solidify the second spot in the league standings for now.

On Friday night, both Lexi Dreher and McKinlee Campbell went deep for Hancock, and both Campbell and Kelli Slade each tallied a co-game-high three hits apiece for HHS in the winning effort. Campbell collected a game-high four RBIs also, while Slade, Paityn Langley, Kenleigh McIver and Miley Spears each had a double apiece. Dreher, McIver and Adddie Campbell each had two hits apiece as well in the game-winning 15-hit attack.

McKinlee Campbell also went the distance in the circle to earn the pitching win, striking out nine in the process.

Annaleese Rabon took the loss for Pascagoula.

Yasmine Black had two hits, including an RBI-double for the Lady Panthers, while Rabon also drove in a run with a double also.

On Tuesday, Hancock picked up a 12-8 win on the road in Pascagoula to open the home-and-home series.

In that one, both McKinlee Campbell and Langley smacked home runs for HHS, and both posted three RBIs along with Spears. Slade led the 19-hit winning effort with four hits, while Spears chipped in three hits.

McKinlee Campbell got the win in that one also.

Black also had two hits in that game, and Sharpton had a double.

Hancock is 10-8-1 overall entering the final week of the regular season. Pascagoula, which is clinging to the all-important fourth spot in the region race at 3-5, is 10-11 overall.
