Defending Class 6A state champion George County is warming up to defend its crown in fine fashion this week with a pair of big wins over Class 7A competition.
The Lady Rebels thumped two Region 4-7A foes on back-to-back nights with an 11-0 win on the road at St. Martin Monday night and followed that up with a 16-1 dismantling of visiting West Harrison Tuesday night.
The two wins moved the Lady Rebels to 21-6 overall as the regular season winds down.

On Monday, senior Dandy Dozen standout Addison Davis twirled a one-hit shutout to earn the win in the circle with 12 strikeouts in the six inning affair.
Davis also carried the big stick at the plate for the Lady Rebels as she smacked a grand slam, and both she and Jordyn Bradley finished with two hits each. Bradley and Paisley Pipkins each had a triple, while Braylee Bishop had a double and a trio of RBIs.
Maggie Renfrow took the loss for St. Martin. Mia Boney supplied the only hit of the game for the Lady Yellow Jackets.

Then, on Tuesday night, Hadleigh Tatum drove in a game-high for runs for GCHS with three hits, and Aryana Dixon chipped in three hits to the winning effort as well.
Tristan Finch also had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs for the Lady Rebels and Kyleigh Howell added two hits while Bishop posted another double.
Peyton Collins picked up the pitching win in the four frame game.
Maddy Tarver took the loss for West Harrison. She also had two hits for the Lady Hurricanes.
George County will wrap up the regular season at home against South Jones Thursday.
