LUCEDALE — New scene, same results for George County baseball this season.

Despite moving into a new region, the Rebels recently captured their third region title with a sweep of Terry in Region 3-6A last week. George County is the top seed in the loop, as they head towards the Class 6A South State playoffs, which begin late next week.

The Rebels, under the direction of veteran head coach Brandon Davis, stand at 19-8 overall and finished the region race at 9-1 after thumping Terry twice 10-0 at home and 12-1 on the road.

In the first game, Rebel pitcher Caron Pierce tossed a six inning no-hitter with 12 strike outs to pick up the win. He also collected three hits, including a double, and Cayler Havard had three hits as well in the winning 12-hit attack. Grant Reeves had a triple.

In game two, which ended after five frames, Reeves belted a three-run home run.

Cooper Ward had two hits and drove in three runs as well, while Pierce had two RBIs and Peyton Havard had two hits also.

Bradyn Havrd worked four no-hit innings and struck out 11 to take the win.

Then, on Saturday, “The County” continued its impressive offensive work with an 11-3 win over St. Patrick.

Cayler Havard had two hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs for GCHS while Pierce had three more hits, including a triple, and added two RBIs. Peyton Havard and Ulysses Pascul each had two hits, including a double apiece, also.

Chandler Cameron earned the pitching win.

William Gunn, Jr., had two hits and drove in two runs for the Fighting Irish.

Kael Pietz took the loss.
