By CURTIS ROCKWELL/Sports Director PASCAGOULA — Resurrection is headed to the second round of the Class 1A South State playoffs for the 10th straight season. After suffering though a subpar regular season compared to Eagle standards, RCS stormed through the opening round of the postseason once again sweeping Salem 16-1 and 7-0 in a span of less than 24 hours. The pair of wins makes the Eagles 7-18 overall as they move on to the next round next week.

On Saturday, the Eagles completed the clean sweep with that 7-0 win in the road. Wyatt Schnoor twirled a complete game, three-hit shutout with 10 strike outs to pick up the pitching win for RCS. Both Schnoor and Collin McCormick had two hits apiece to lead the Eagles, while Sully May posted a pair of RBIs and Cortez King had a double. Friday night, in game one that lasted just three frames, an 11-run first inning got RCS off to its normal kind of a postseason start.

May, McCormick and Brock Brown each tallied two hits apiece for the Eagles, while May drove in a game-high three runs and Brown, McCormick, Philip Lachaussee and Bryson Daams each drove in two runs apiece. May had a three-run home run and Brown a two-run homer in that decisive first inning, as RCS overcame an early 1-0 deficit. Lachaussee got the win.
