PASS CHRISTIAN — A third and final game will be needed to settle the Class 4A South State opening round between Pass Christian and Columbia.
The Pirates picked up an exciting 6-5 win on the road Friday night, before the Wildcats bounced back in like fashion with an 11-5 win on the Gulf Coast late Saturday afternoon. The final game will be back in Columbia Monday night at 7 p.m.

In the series opener, Pass Christian tallied a single run in both of the top of the sixth and seventh stanzas to overcome a 5-4 deficit and pull out the big win.
Cooper Lyrock’s one-out solo homerun in the sixth knotted things up at 5-5, and the Pirates won it on an RBI-single by Aidan Holmes with two outs in the seventh.
Kayleb Munsch had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs to pace the Pass at the plate. David Callecod, who scored the final run, also had a run-scoring double in the win,
Lyrock also earned the pitching win with four solid frames of relief work.

Then on Saturday, J.P. Haddox posted three hits and Greyson Carney drove in a game-high three runs to guide the Wildcats to the bounce back win.
Jayden Taylor collected three hits for the Pirates, including a double, and both Emerson Wyers and Drew Buckley each had two hits apiece. Both Lyrock and Stone Kelly each had a double.
Will Breland went the distance on the hill to take the win, including working his way out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the sixth with a strikeout and a fly out after PCHS had cut the deficit to 7-5 at that point.
Wyerson took the loss.
