PASCAGOULA — Defending Class 6A state softball champion George County made quick work of Pascagoula to open the playoffs.
The Lady Rebels dispatched the Lady Panthers twice in a span of less than 24 hours over the weekend, moving to 24-6 overall. In Lucedale on Friday night, the Lady Rebels got a complete game, two-hit shutout in the circle from senior standout and Dandy Dozen pitcher Addison Davis with 14 strike outs en route to a 5-0 win.

Then, Saturday afternoon, GCHS collected 16 hits to wrap up the series with a 10-2 decision.
In that one, Davis posted three hits. including a pair of doubles, and drove in three runs, while both Aryana Dixon and Kyleigh Howell each also chipped in three hits apiece to the winning effort. Howell had a double and two RBIs, while Braylee Bishop posted a pair of hits and two RBIs also. Addisyn Chavers also had two hits.
Davis worked four frames to also pick up the pitching win in game two.

Ty’Mia Bell had two hits for the Lady Panthers.
Brianna Sharpton took the pitching loss.
In the opener, Jordyn Bradley had a pair of hits, including a triple, and Bishop had two hits, including an RBI-double. Blakely Sly posted an run-scoring double, and Hadleigh Tatum also had a double for GCHS.
Annaleese Rabon had two hits to pace PHS at the plate. She also took the loss in the circle.
George County moves on to face the winner of Hancock and West Jones later this week.
