KILN — The Pearl River Central softball squad has won 12 straight games, including four consecutive over arch-rival Picayune in that successful stretch.
And now, the Lady Blue Devils are headed to the Class 6A South State finals thanks in large part to the recent span.



PRC completed a two game sweep over the Lady Maroon Tide Monday with a 7-3 win. The decision pushes PRC to 23-8-1 overall, as head coach Tony LaBella’s squad heads to Lucedale Thursday night to face defending Class 6A state champ George County with a trip to the overall state championship on the line.
Lily Thompson had a pair of hits for PRC, including a solo home run, while Kylie Terry also had two hits in the winning attack. Lexi Nichols posted a pair of RBIs for the Lady Blue Devils also.
Ava Kennedy started in the circle and hurled five frames to earn the win.
Calyn Groom had two hits for Picayune, including an RBI-triple. Addison Watts also drove in a run.



Kadie Rushing tossed a complete game for Picayune to take the pitching loss, as the Lady Tide ended the season at 11-19.
In the opening game, PRC pitcher Bayli Cucinello twirled a complete game, two-hit shutout to pace the Lady Devils to a 5-0 win.
Cami Lee had two hits for PRC, including a double, and Addison Davis posted a triple.
