Catching up on a few notes on the hardwood in the “Southern Six”…
It didn’t take legendary Biloxi High head coach Seber Windham long to find his next spot.
Windham recently retired after 30 years with the program, in which he won almost 500 games and captured a state title as a player, an assistant head coach and as a head coach with the Indians.
It was announced last week that Windham has joined head coach Ryan Rushing’s staff at Covington High (La.), as an assistant coach with the Lions.

“The Covington school district is aterrific school district first of all,” Windham said, Monday afternoon. “The basketball program is headed in the right direction by winning their District last season and getting to second round before losing to state champion Zachary. They have a fantastic young coach that has multiple top players in their district and state of Louisiana. I’m excited to bring my experience to a talented team and excellent coaching staff.”
Randy McCrory took over for Windham at the helm of the Biloxi program.
Panthers Paws
And, speaking of new head coaches at top boy’s programs on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Pascagoula’s new leader Regis Huddleston is already up and running on the job as well.

As exclusively reported by SouthMiss6 Sports several weeks ago, Huddleston was the choice to succeed Lorenzo Wright as the new Panther head coach after PHS won its first-ever state hoops championship in early March. Wright soon left for the same post at Harrison Central High.
Although no official announcement has been made by the school administration just yet, Huddleston has recently guided Pascagoula through player try outs for next season and has assumed head coaching duties. The next school board meeting is Monday, May 11th, then on June 8th.
He has already been approved as a teacher by the Pascagoula-Gautier School District School Board. He was Wright’s top assistant last season during that run to the Gold Ball.
This will be the third head coaching stop for the 37-year-old Huddleston, who came to PHS after after serving in the same role at West Jones. Prior to that, Huddleston was head coach Stringer.

Searching again
The only head basketball coaching post that is still open in the “Southern Six” is at D’Iberville, where after the recent sudden departure by Jason Kennedy to Oxford High the Lady Warriors are once again in search of a new leader.
The next meeting of the Harrison County School Board is in one week, on May 18th, and this position could be filled by then. Harrison County School District Athletics Director Kevin Roberts indicated Monday afternoon that he expects the opening to be filled at that meeting.
