Prep Notebook: Another Lady Warriors hoops head coach arrives; New faces in a new place

The D’Iberville girls’ basketball program is expected to have its third head coach in two months in place by Monday night.
The Harrison County School Board is expected to approve the recommendation of Macie Walker to fill that position at the helm of the Lady Warriors.
Walker, considered one of the most heralded prep players ever to come out of perennial state power Belmont, is coming to the Gulf Coast from North Mississippi.
She is expected now to lead DHS after Robin Jefferies stepped down at the end of this past season, and former St. Martin girls’ head coach Jason Kennedy replaced her.

However, just a couple of weeks later Kennedy announced that he was leaving the Gulf Coast for North Mississippi to accept the head coaching job at Oxford High.
After a stellar career at Belmont, in which she earned All-State honors three times for the Lady Cards and led BHS to a 31-3 mark and a Class 3A state title as a senior, Walker moved on to The University of North Alabama to continue her playing days.
Walker has been an assistant coach at her alma mater and in the Iuka School System and she has also served as a volunteer assistant girls coach at Northeast Mississippi Community College.

Hurricane leader
Walker isn’t expected to be the only head coach approved by the HCSB Monday night.
s reported last week, Taylor Lafontaine is expected to be approved as the next West Harrison High head baseball coach as well at the latest meeting of the governing body.
Lafonatine was most recently an assistant at Hancock.

New face in new place
One player transfer caught the attention of some folks over the past few months.
And that was when Maddox Dunn started showing up in the starting line-up for the George County baseball team.
Dunn came from East Central, where he saw action both on the diamond but was more well known as the starting quarterback for the Hornets football program.
He is expected to be in the mix come August for the signal-calling role for the Rebels and second-year head coach Kelly Causey as well.
