OCEAN SPRINGS — Yet another member of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band is headed to the Pascagoula natives homeland.
Longtime CRB lead guitar player Peter Mayer is bringing his band to Ocean Springs for the first time ever. The Peter Mayer Group is the featured artist for an edition of “Jazz Fest in OS”, at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center on Sun., Oct 25th.

Mayer is a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, touring musician and recording artist originally from St. Louis now living in Nashville. He and his brother Jim, longtime bass player for the CRB, have spent the last three decades plus touring the world playing with the late, great Buffett, and Peter’s appearance in Ocean Springs will come just after the CRB completes a two month trek across America as the group keeps Buffett’s wish of “kep the party going” alive and well.
With his unique writing style, distinctive voice and virtuoso musicianship, Mayer creates compelling and soulful music for an electrifying live performance. Individually, Mayer has released 25 albums to date and tours year round as well with his Peter Mayer Group. In addition to Buffett, he has shared the stage with a regalia of bright lights in the music industry with the likes of James Taylor, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Don Henley, Dave Matthews, Joe Walsh, and many others.

In addition, just like his CRB bandmates Mac McAnally, Will Kimbrough and the legendary Buffett himself who have also played in Ocean Springs and Pascagoula various times over the past two decades, Buffett recorded several songs written by Mayer and some co-written by him as well over the years as well, such as “Blue Guitar”, “Barefoot Children in the Rain”, “Barometer Soup” and “Everybody’s on the Phone” as well as several others.
He recently released the critically acclaimed compilation “Songs and Stories from the 12 Volt Man” . This CD contains 15 songs that are among his favorites from 35 years of co-writing and playing alongside Jimmy Buffett.

“Jazz Fest in OS” is an on-going live music series that features artists that have played the greatest music festival in the world at The Fairgrounds in New Orleans at some point over the past several decades and places them in a more intimate setting in South Mississippi.
