SouthMiss6 Sports is rolling out its annual roster of the top returning standout prep football players in our coverage area. The “Sweet 16 in the Southern Six” list was compiled by coaches and sports writers who have been following the action on the gridiron in South Mississippi for the past three decades.

Next up on the list is a key two-way athlete in the Class 6A ranks:

Kevin Marshall

Pascagoula | 6-1, 180 | Senior

Marshall will be playing for a new team this season in his final campaign, after transferring from St. Martin to Pascagoula for his senior year.

He made his mark with the Yellow Jackets the past two seasons, and was impressive on both sides of the ball as a junior, becoming a solid two-way product.

Marshall had 85 tackles, including four tackles for loss, with two interceptions and two forced fumbles in the secondary, while he also produced 500 all-purpose yards and scored four times in the backfield and out wide on offense seeing time at quarterback, running back and wide receiver.

His versatility has made coaches from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Tulane, West Virginia and several other programs take notice.

Marshall joins Pascagoula just as the Panthers welcome in a new head coach for the first time in 16 years in Zach Green. The pair are looking to pace PHS back to the state playoffs for the fourth straight season.

Marshall kicks off his senior season when the Panthers begin the Zach Green era on Friday, Aug. 28th, hosting longtime arch-rival Moss Point in the annual “Battle of the Cats” at War Memorial Stadium.
