PASS CHRISTIAN — The Pass Christian football team set a program record for most wins in a season last year.
However, all signs coming into a new campaign indicate that an even better notch could be made in that same record book this season.
The Pirates went 11-2 overall, including an impressive 9-1 in the regular season, and Pass ended up in the Class 4A South State semifinals for the second time in three years under head coach Jeff Stockstill.
Now, with a stacked senior class that includes one of the top signal-callers in the state, PCHS is ready to kick off what it hopes will be a second straight historic season in a few weeks.

“We do have a big senior class,” Stockstill said, in a recent interview. “I think we can potentially put the right pieces in the right places. We talked about this all offseason, through spring training and through the summer, if we can put some good team chemistry together we could minimize the mistakes and get the communication level where it needs to be.”
The Pirates get back nine returning starters on offense and six more on defense, as they look to defend the Region 8-4A title they won last year, which marked the first-ever in program history as well.
And none of those veteran players coming back is more important to what the Pirates are trying to accompish than senior standout quarterback Paris Trvillion.
All Trivillion did was register an impressive worksheet in his junior campaign that included almost 3,700 yards of total offense and 49 total touchdowns last year, as he totalled 2,570 yards passing with 34 scoring passes and he added 1,120 yards rushing with 15 touchdowns on the ground.
He threw a 70-yard scoring strike last season and he also scampered 65-yards for touchdown jaunt. The former defensive back, who swapped over to the offensive side of the ball just before his sophomore season, now has over 4,500 passing yards under his belt.

He will be joined on offense by running backs Cecil Lizana and Doug White in the backfield as well as Mario Burks out wide.
Up front, all five offensive linemen return including Andrew Murray and Jaden Necaise, along with Hunter Boiling.
Necaise also will dig deep down on defense in the trenches, while White will double as a linebacker and Lizana will roam around on the second level.
In the secondary, stalwart junior Brandon Laneaux is back after recording 87 tackles, with four tackles for loss, five interceptions and two blocked field goals.

Both Kaiden Mooney and Stefen King, Jr., should see plenty of action defensively as well.
“I think we could potentially have a good year,” Stockstill concluded. “I think we’ve done a pretty good job at moving people around to try to get as much depth in positions as possible. We’ve only had a couple injuries and we’ll potentially get those guys back. If we minimize the injuries and the amount of players we rotate in different positions, I think we can bridge a lot of gaps, but we’ll see.”

Last season ended in the Class 4A South State semifinals to undefeated Columbia. Those same Wildcats went on to finish a perfect 15-0 and capture the Class 4A state championship.
That loss also ended a nine game win streak for PCHS, the second longest in program history.
This season starts on Friday, Aug. 28th, on the road in Long Beach against longtime rival Long Beach in the annual “Oyster Bowl”.
