OCEAN SPRINGS — Keith Sykes, a former member of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band who has sold 25 million records as a solo artist, is coming to Ocean Springs.
Sykes, who was once the featured musical guest on “Saturday Night Live”, is part of a new Fall live music series called “Friends of Buffett”, that will take place at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center. Sykes will appear on Fri., Dec 11th.

A longtime Memphis resident, Sykes is a highly regarded performer whose songs have sold more than 25 million copies worldwide over the span of his career. He has had more than 100 songs recorded by a variety of artists that run the gamut from Buffett to Jerry Jeff Walker, John Prine, Rodney Crowell and Rosanne Cash just to name a few.

He has appeared as the featured musical guest on Saturday Night Live as well as Austin City Limits, and was also featured on Mountain Stage and the King Biscuit Flour Hour.
His long and storied musical career spans over four decades, and in that time Sykes has become a troubadour and storyteller, and a massively successful songwriter.
On the trip, he would tour every corner of America and play in just about every conceivable kind of venue, appear on Saturday Night Live and Austin City Limits, and host songwriter nights on Memphis’ legendary Beale Street with many of music’s most talented songwriters.
He would join Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band, tour the country and record the Volcano album – the title track for which he co-wrote with Jimmy.

To date, recordings of Keith’s songs have sold more than 25 million copies worldwide. With 13 full-length albums released – and great success with his own publishing company, credited with signing John Kilzer to Geffen Records and the discovery of Todd Snider – Sykes has proven to be nothing short of prolific.
Snider penned “You Got Gold” for Prine, as well as “Volcano”, “Coast of Marseilles” and “Last Line” all of which Buffett put on two different albums, and “Raining In My Soul” for Rosanne Cash. “Just Wanna Dance” was recorded by Rodney Crowell, as was “Oh What a Feeling”.
And of course, he’s not done just yet. Keith continues to tour relentlessly, and will release Songs From A Little Beach Town in 2016.
He is the latest addition to the “Friends of Buffett” series, which will also feature Will Kimbrough, Django Walker and Peter Mayer, with one more show still to be announced.
