Vancleave pulled out a stunning upset Friday night.
The Bulldogs out-lasted visiting Richland 49-46 in an offensive shootout to earn their first win of the season.
Running back Cam Sherrod ran the ball 17 times for 201 yards and two touchdowns, while Bulldog quarterback Reece Thomason ran for three scores and running back Anthony Buxton rushed 14 times for 122 yards and a touchdown and caught a 52-yard score.





Jackson Lanier 20, Moss Point 0
Moss Point fell to 0-2 on the new season with a shutout loss to the Bulldogs on the road.
Tiger linebacker Landon Cato recorded 21 total tackles with four tackles for loss and two forced fumbles in the contest.
Moss Point sits at 0-2 for the sixth straight season. Lanier moved to 2-0 with the win.



Pass Christian 55, Purvis 19
Pirate standout senior quarterback Paris Trivillion accounted for over 500 yards of offense and six touchdowns as the home team rolled to the win. He was 17-of-30 through the air for 260 yards and two scores, and he ran for 256 yards and four more touchdowns on just nine carries. Running back Douglas White added 124 yards and a touchdown to the winning cause, and Brandon Laneaux caught six passes for 113 yards and a touchdown as PCHS moved to 2-0.



George County 48, South Jones 20
The Rebels found their first win of the year over the visiting Braves.
PRC 42, Pearl River (La.) 28
The Blue Deils moved to 2-0 with a win in their home-opener
Long Beach 14, Forrest County AHS 7
The Bearcats pulled out their first win so far with an upset of the visiting Aggies.
Petal 43, Ocean Springs 21
The home-standing Panthers kept the Greyhounds win-less at 0-2.
Jackson Academy 48, Picayune 17
The Maroon Tide fell to 0-2 with their second straight loss at home.
Sacred Heart 30, St. Patrick 19
The Fighting Irish fell on the road in their season-opener.
West Harrison 37, Forest 19
The Hurricanes grabbed their first win of the season
