Prep Volleyball: Lady Greyhounds host Lady Hurricanes in key region game Tuesday night

OCEAN SPRINGS — The Ocean Springs High volleyball team has won at least 20 games for 14 consecutive seasons.

Now, after keeping that streak alive over the weekend, the Lady Greyhounds are closing in on their 12th straight region title as well as a new week begins Tuesday night.

Ocean Springs, now 20-6 overall, hosts West Harrison, 18-8 overall, in a key Region 4-7A match-up at Hubbard Gym. The Lady Greyhounds, which swept the Lady Hurricanes 3-0 on the road a couple of weeks ago, lead the league standings at 7-0 while WHHS sits in second at 5-2 just a little past the halfway mark in the region schedule.

Ocean Springs has won eight-out-of its last nine games coming into the week, after going 5-1 over the weekend in the annual Labor Day Volleyball Classic in Foley, Ala. West Harrison has also won eight-out-of its last nine matches as well.

For OSHS, Maggie Noblitt totaled 64 kills, 39 digs, and four aces in the Lady Greyhounds 3-0 win over Biloxi, 3-0 win over Harrison Central, 2-0 win over West Florida Baptist Academy (Fla.), 2-0 win over UMS-Wright (Ala.), 2-0 win over Lindsay Lane Christian Academy (Fla.), 2-0 win over Foley (Ala.), 2-1 win over Hernando, and 2-0 loss to Bayside (Ala.) over the past week.

And, Ryleigh Register, recorded 28 kills, five blocks, and four aces in the same eight outings.

In the win over Biloxi, the Lady Indians got nine kills apiece from both Samantha Bowie and Skylar Mosher plus Bowie had 18 digs and Sophia Shannon had eight assists.

West Harrison is coming off of a 3-0 sweep over St. Martin in region play late last week, as Makayla Ladner had 14 kills and Emma Bunn added 12 kills, while Bunn recorded three aces and nine digs and Hadlee Weinberg registered 17 while Danielle Parker had 24 assists and 17 digs in the winning effort.
