Prep Football: PRC gets past East Central 30-23 with late score

HURLEY — It was a struggle, but in the end Pearl River Central remained unbeaten by keeping East Central win-less Friday night.

The Blue Devils rallied to pull out a 30-23 win over the Hornets on the road here in Shirley Stadium on the ECHS campus. PRC is now 3-0, while the Hornets drop to 0-3.

PRC quarterback Titus Feaster hit wide out Kendall Morrison with a 17-yard touchdown pass for the decisive points in the fourth period. Feaster then added the 2-point conversion with just 1:20 to play to end the scoring and enable the visitors to overcome a slight 23-22 deficit to earn the win.

Feaster helped lead his Blue Devils to a 14-9 halftime lead, thanks to a 15-yard scoring scramble early in the first quarter and then he hooked up with Kendall Morrison on a 36-yard scoring strike to make it 14-0 mid-way through that same period.

East Central countered with a 7-yard keeper by quarterback Kash Litton on a touchdown run plus a safety to trail by that five point margin at intermission. Hornet defender Lucas Smith sacked Feaster in the end zone for the safety.

Then, Blue Devil running back Cade Hinton sprinted 67-yards for a score just two minutes into the second half to put PRC up 22-9 after Feaster added a 2-point conversion.

But the home team bounced right back, thanks to a long scoring pass from Litton to Wyatt Garrard and Litton also scored on the ground in the waning moments as well as the Hornets suddenly took the lead at 23-22 entering the final period.

The go-ahead score was set up by a long pass from Litton to Koen Meyers to the PRC three.

But Feaster and Morrison turned things around down the stretch.

The Hornets fared much better against PRC than last year, when the Blue Devils thumped the Hornets 50-21 in Carriere.
