Prep Football: Picayune stalwart tailback Dennis earns the “Baria Law Firm Game Ball of the Week”

PICAYUNE — Picayune senior standout tailback Xavier Dennis gets the “Baria Law Firm Game Ball of the Week” this week.

Every week throughout the end of the school year, we will honor student/athletes across the “Southern Six” with our “Game Ball of the Week” sponsored by David Baria, Attorney-Mediator.

Dennis led Picayune’s dominating offensive attack over Ocean Springs on Friday, defeating the Greyhounds 38-10. Dennis rushed for 255 yards and four touchdowns on 18 carries, as his Maroon Tide evened up their overall record at 2-2 with the win.

Dennis was unstoppable as he ran roughshod over the Greyhound defense and found seams in the line of scrimmage and broke free for touchdown runs of 25 yards, 22 yards, 76 yards and 69 yards.

He was coming off of a 28 carries, 220 yard performance with three touchdowns on the ground in a in a weather-delayed 34-31 overtime win over Biloxi on the road as well.

The Maroon Tide hosts unbeaten Poplarville this week in the SouthMiss6 Sports “Game of the Week.” The match-up pits Dennis and the powerful Picayune running game against Hornet stalwart running back Ty Keys, a University of Miami commit.
