Prep Football: Resurrection taking on St. Patrick in Catholic League conflict Friday night

Resurrection head coach Scott Sisson calls the next two game stretch for his Eagles the most crucial of the season.

And no one can really argue with his assessment.

Win-less Resurrection heads to face Catholic Archdiocese rival St. Patrick Friday night in a match-up of two teams in dire need of a victory. The Eagles are 0-3, while the Fighting Irish are 1-2.

Both teams are coming off of losses on the road, as RCS headed to Hattiesburg and fell to Sacred Heart 38-22 while SPHS went to Richton and fell to the Rebels 27-20.

For RCS, the Eagles got a game-high 159-yards and one touchdown rushing from junior running back Brody Binion in the loss, while sophomore running back Dominic Sanders was right there with him with 158 yards on the ground and two scores as the Eagles ran for 359 yards.

St. Patrick got two touchdown passes from quarterback Layton Davis, with both Kenner Williams and Liam McDuffie each pulling down scoring strikes.

McDuffie also returned a punt for a score.

Fighting Irish running back Hunter Robertson almost hit the 100-yard plateau, gaining 96 yards on the ground.

St. Patrick claims a forfeit over Christian Coastal Academy in week one as well in addition to a 34-17 win over Amite, another MAIS school. Also, RCS had a game in week two against CCA cancelled due to weather.

After facing the Fighting Irish this week, Resurrection begins Region 8-1A play with Richton at home next week. The Rebels are 2-2 and are open this week.

After that, awaiting RCS is Taylorsville and Lumberton in league play, before closing out the regular season and region action against Stringer.
