Prep Football: Gators and Blue Devils earn big wins in final non-region games

in Region 4-6A action, both Gautier and Pearl River Central open league play in two weeks.
However, on Friday night, both the Gators and the Blue Devils wrapped up the non-region portion of their schedules with big wins at home.
In Gautier, the Gators handed Greene County its first loss of the season by thumping the Wildcats 56-27.
It marked the third time in just five games that GHS scored at least 47 points this season as head coach Marc High’s crew moved to 4-1 overall.

Gautier sophomore standout quarterback Keon McNeil completed 16-of-23 passes for 213 yards and five touchdowns in the big win, and he added another touchdown on the ground.
Gators stalwart junior running back Latrell Pogue ran the ball 15 times for 213 yards and a touchdown, while McNeil’s favorite target Devon Garrett caught four passes for 96 yards and two touchdowns.
Gautier now will enjoy an open date before heading to Long Beach to open region play on Fri., Oct. 9th.
Greene County is also now 4-1. The Wildcats return home to face unbeaten Pass Christian to open Region 8-4A play next week.

Meanwhile, in Carriere, PRC bounced back from its first loss f the season with a 56-21 win over visiting Sumrall.
Blue Devil quarterback Titus Feaster completed 14 of his 17 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns, and he also rushed for 177 rushing yards and two more scores.
PRC running back Caden Hinton ran the ball 10 times for 128 yards and two touchdowns also, as PRC moved to 4-1.
The Blue Devils are also open next week before hosting Hancock on Oct. 9th, to open region play.
After PRC faces Hancock and Gautier meets Long Beach, the Gators will host the Blue Devils the next week in a key Region 4-6A show down.
