Prep Football: Warriors, Yellow Jackets remain unbeaten with wins in Region 4-7A openers

Both D’Iberville and St. Martin opened Region 4-7A play in fine fashion Friday night.
The home-standing Warriors remained unbeaten at 5-0 overall by bashing Harrison Central 42-7.
D’Iberville super senior standout signal-caller Jordan Walley, a Minnesota commit, completed 11 of 14 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Harrison Central. He also ran for 46 yards and another score, and he added three tackles and two interceptions on defense.

Chan Harvey added 84 yards on the ground and he hauled in one of those scoring catches. Matt Fairley pulled in the other touchdown toss.
Josh Johnson not only scored a touchdown rushing, but he led the Warriors defensively with 13 total tackles. Kevin Dunlap chipped in 11 total stops, while DHS defensive lineman Jamil Brown recorded nine tackles, including one tackle for a loss and one sack.
Xavier McCall had 10 total tackles for the Red Rebels. No scoring details were available for HCHS.
Meanwhile, in Gulfport, St. Martin out-gunned home-standing West Harrison 45-28 as the YellowJackets also remained unbeaten at 5-0.

St. Martin stalwart sophomore quarterback Dawsen Sullivan threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more scores in the winning effort.
His twin brother Dawsey Sullivan was on the receiving end of two touchdown passes for the Yellow Jackets. And SMHS running back Seth Crockett ran for one touchdown and caught another.
Defensively, Liam Walters paced the Yellow Jackets defense with 13 total tackles.

No scoring details were available for WHHS.

Next week in Region 4-7A play, St. Martin hosts Biloxi while D’Iberville hosts West Harrison. Also, ocean Springs travels to Gulfport.

Ocean Springs also opened region play with a 21-14 win over Biloxi on the road Friday night.
