CLINTON — A total of 15 prep football “Southern Six” senior standouts were selected Wednesday morning to participate in a pair of upcoming annual all-star games as well as a coach.
That number includes five players in the prestigious Alabama/Mississippi All-Star Football Classic.
The selections for both that game and the Bernard Blackwell North/South All-Star Football Game were announced at a press conference here at the offices of the Mississippi Association of Coaches Wednesday morning.


The contest will be played at 12 Noon in Mobile (Ala.) on Saturday, December 12 at Hancock Whitney Stadium on the campus of the University of South Alabama.
Representing the “Southern Six” in Mobile will be the Poplarville Dandy Dozen do of running back Ty Keys and lineman Sam LeJeune as well as the D’Iberville twin tandemof versatile back/wide out Jordan Walley and lineman Julian Morris in addition to Pascagoula defensive back Kevin Marshall.
No local coaches are involved this year. However, former Picayune assistant and Maroon Tide standout and now current Germantown High head coach Russell Mitchell will serve as Mississippi’s offensive coordinator and quarterback coach under head coach Patrick Scholar of Pearl High.



Meanwhile, 10 “Southern Six” seniors were selected to play for the South squad in the annual Bernard Blackwell All-Star Football Game. That contest is is scheduled for 11:30 AM on Saturday, December 19th at the new Gulfport High School on campus stadium.
Ocean Springs head coach Jake Bramlett will be an assistant coach for the South team.
The local contingent in that game includes Pass Christian’s Paris Trivillion, Gulfport’s Malachi Smith, Picayune’s Xavier Dennis, Gulfport’s Nic Strickland, Gautier’s Malik Ward, St.Martin’s Aaden Jackson, Poplarville’s Lennox Beech, Stone’s Ben Hendrix and Picayune’s Edgar Cruz plus West Harrison’s Kenthony Townsend.!
