Prep Football: Hancock keeps Bay High win-less with 27-0 shutout

KILN — Home-standing Hancock welcomed long-time county rival Bay High into the friendly confines of Brett Favre Field Thursday night.
And the Hawks then collected their sixth straight win over the Tigers.
Hancock blanked Bay 27-0 in the final non-region game of the season for both squads. The Hawks move to 2-3 overall with the win, and snap a brief two game losing streak in the process after an open date last week.

Meanwhile, the Tigers fall to 0-5overall and have now lost 18 straight games and 23-out-of-the last 24 games dating back to early in the 2024 season.
Hancock senior quarterback Justin Wedgeworth produced a very efficient worksheet in the win, completing 20-of-26 passes for 174 yards and a touchdown while also running for a score.
His scoring pass of 13-yards went to Majia Talley. Talley also tallied a 12-yard scoring run, and led the Hawks on the ground with 74 yards on 16 carries.
Coleton Hopgood also ran for a touchdown for the home team.

Meanwhile, the Hawks defense held Bay to just 107 yards of total offense.
Javien Thompson had 70 all-purpose yards for the Tigers.
Devin Jones blocked a field goal for Bay High also.
The Tigers haven’t beaten the Hawks on the football field since the 2012 season.
