CARRIERE — For the second straight season, Hancock put over 40 points on Pearl River Central to open Region 4-6A play.

The visiting Hawks out-scored the Blue Devils 42-41 Thursday night in a shootout.

Hancock quarterback Justin Wedgeworth ran 22-yards for a touchdown with 1:40 to play to pull the Hawks within one, at 41-40. Wedgeworth then hit wide out Aspen Favre on a short screen pass but he dropped the ball at the one-yard line and teammate Aiden Harvanek scooped the loose ball up and got into the end zone for the game-winning points.

Wedgeworth finished the night 28-of-39 through the air for 340 yards and four touchdowns and he also ran for that one score as well.

Both Favre and Harvanek each hauled in a pair of scoring catches each, with Favre pulling in nine passes for 145 yards.

PRC quarterback Titus Feaster accounted for six touchdowns going 21-of-29 through the air for 302 yards and five touchdowns and running for 153. yards on 17 carries and another score.

His favorite receiver was wide out Kendall Morrison, who caught eight passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns.

Last season, Hancock beat PRC 41-21.

Resurrection 27, Taylorsville 24

Eagle placekicker Eli Pickens booted five field goals, including the game-winner from 32-yards out with just eight seconds to play, as Resurrection pulled out an exciting win over Taylorsville Thursday night in Region 8-1A play.

The Eagles moved to 2-0 in league play with the win. Pickett also broke up a last second pass to seal the win.

RCS running back Dominic Sanders posted a game-high 182 yards rushing   on 31 carries as the Eagles rolled up 340 yards of total offense in the winning effort.

Pass Christian 42, Forrest County AHS 7

The Pirates remained unbeaten at 7-0 so far this season and also moved to 2-0 in Region 8-4A play with a big win on the road in Brooklyn over the Aggies at The Cow` Palace.

Pirates senior quarterback Paris Trivillion accounted for 390 yards of total offense and five touchdowns in the win, throwing for 291 yards and four scores while running for right at 100 yards and one more touchdown.

Brandon Laneaux grabbed seven catches for 156 yards and two touchdowns and Mario Burks had three catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns also.

West Jones 22, George County 16

The Mustangs overcame a 13-0 second half deficit to pull out the close win when sophomore running back Ethan Jones scored on a 7-yard touchdown run with 43 seconds remaining in the game.

That score put West Jones up 20-16, and the Mustangs converted a 2-point conversion on a reverse run by senior Brayden Powell for the final 22-16 lead.

George County scored touchdowns on its opening drive of each half, to take a 13-0 lead at the 7:31 mark of the third quarter.

But veteran Mustang quarterback Tootie Lindsay rallied his troops, with a 7-yard touchdown pass from Lindsey to Cairo Baker to cut the deficit to 13-7 and an 80-yard scoring strike to Khylan Sinegal.

The Rebels got a pair of short scoring runs from quarterback Maddox Dunn. Also, the Rebels got a nice 48-yard field goal from Layton Fryfogle to retake the lead at 16-14 with 2:17 to play.

George County is now 2-4 overall and 0-1 in Region 3-6A play.
