OCEAN SPRINGS — Ocean Springs gets to defend its Class 7A South State championship at home.

The Lady Greyhounds knocked off visiting Oak Grove 3-0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-10) here in Hubbard Gymnasium Thursday night in South State semifinal action. The win not only moves OSHS to an impressive 31-8 overall, but also moves head coach Christina Daigle’s crew into position to host Brandon for the Class 7A South State title at home Monday night at 6 p.m. Ocean Springs went on the road last year to Brandon and beat the Lady Bulldogs to advance to the state championship match.

Then, three days later, the Lady Greyhounds captured their first-ever state championship on the hardwood with a sweep of Madison Central.

Brandon comes into Monday’s match-up at 27-11 overall, after getting past Northwest Rankin on the road in a close 3-1 decision (25-21, 20-25, 26-24, 25-23)Thursday night.

The Lady Bulldogs got to that point by sweeping Harrison central 3-0 in the opening round of the playoffs.

The winner of Monday’s Ocean Springs-Brandon match-up will move on to face either Lewisburg or Germantown Thursday night at 6 p.m., at Robinson-Hale Coliseum in Clinton on the campus of Mississippi College for the overall Class 7A state championship.

Germantown hosts Lewisburg Monday night for the North State crown.
