CLINTON — OLA junior volleyball middle hitter/setter standout Krissi Pavolini gets the “Baria Law Firm Game Ball of the Week” this week.

Every week throughout the end of the school year, we will honor student/athletes across the “Southern Six” with our “Game Ball of the Week” sponsored by David Baria, Attorney-Mediator.

Late last week, Pavolini led her Crescents to their fifth straight state championship, as OLA rolled over Kossuth 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 25-18, 25-8) to secure yet another Gold Ball for the trophy case in Bay St. Louis. The Crescents finish the season at 31-10 overall after the decisive win here at A.E. Wood Coliseum on the campus of Mississippi College, while Kossuth finishes at 30-5 after their first-ever trip to the state finals.

Pavolini’s play throughout the season helped OLA overcome a sluggish 2-5 start to the season after the Crescents lost versatile, multi-sport standout Taylor Henley to injury. Ola rebounded to capture their 19th overall state volleyball title.

“It’s probably one of the most rewarding and fulfilling seasons we’ve ever had.” veteran Ola head coach Mike Meyers said.

The Crescents never dropped a single set in the postseason until Friday, sweeping Magee, Union, Seminary and Presbyterian en route to the state championship.

Pavolini had seven kills and 20 assists in the state championship match. She was named the Most Valuable Player of the match.
