Region 8-4A wraps up league play Thursday night.

And soon after, as the dust settles, the seeding in the region for South State playoff purposes will be known.

Bay High hosts Pass Christian and Greene County heads to Brooklyn to face Forrset County AHS in the last two regular season games in league play for this year. IN all likelihood, these four teams will represent the region in the postseason, which kicks off next week.

Also, Moss Point will end the regular season, and quite possibly the season, Friday night play against Mobile Murphy in non-region action. Obviously, that game has no effect on the region race.

Here are the current standings in Region 8-4A:

(Region/Overall)

Pass Christian 3-0, 9-0

Greene County 2-1, 6-3

Forrest Co. AHS 1-2, 3-5

Bay 1-2, 1-7

Moss Point 1-3, 2-7

And this is what we do know so far:

  • Pass Christian has clinched the No. 1 seed.
  • If Pass Christian beats Bay and Greene County beats Forrest Co. AHS, then Greene County is the 2 seed, Forrest Co. AHS the No. 3 seed and Bay the No. 4 seed.
  • If Pass Christian wins and Forrest Co. AHS beats Greene County, then Forrest Co. AHS is the No. 2 seed, Greene County the No. 3 seed and Moss Point the No. 4 seed.
  • If Bay beats Pass Christian and Greene County wins, then Greene County is the No. 2 seed, Bay the 3 seed, and Forrest Co. AHS the 4 seed.
  • If Bay and Forrest Co. AHS both win, then Bay is the No. 2 seed, Forrest Co. AHS the 3 seed, and Greene County the 4 seed.

Also, even though it seems as if Pass has nothing to play for in its regular season finale, that’s not true.

The Pirates would move to a perfect 10-0 with a fifth straight win over the Tigers, and cap an historical season in the process.

Pass has never won 10 games in the regular season in the modern era history of the program. The only unbeaten regular season for PCHS came 41 years ago, when the Pirates went 9-0.

In addition, Pass Christian has already wrapped up its second straight region title, which is also a first in the history of the program.
