CARRIERE — Coming into Thursday night’s annual renewal of the Picayune-Pearl River Central rivalry, it had been 31 years since the Blue Devils had beaten the Maroon Tide two straight years.
That record still stands.
Visiting Picayune completed a clean sweep in Region 4-6A play by puling out a hard-fought 28-21 win over PRC here at Hendrix Stadium in the regular season finale for both teams.

The Maroon Tide, now 7-3 overall, finish a perfect 5-0 in the region race and of course are the number one seed in the loop for the sixth straight season. The loss not only drops the Blue Devils to 6-4 overall and 2-3 in the league, but PRC falls all the way to the fourth seed for playoff purposes also.
Picayune ran for just over 400 yards in the win, and fittingly enough, sophomore running back Javion Mason raced 95-yards for the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter to wrap up the win.
Maroon Tide standout senior running back Xavier Dennis had two scoring runs also, covering 58 and 39-yards, and fullback Kendall Jett added an 85-yard scoring scamper as well in the winning effort.

Dennis finished up with 17 carries for 187 yards and the two scores.
PRC stalwart junior quarterback Titus Feaster accounted for three touchdowns, throwing for over 300 yards and two scores and running for yet another.
Feaster also accounted for right at 400 yards of total offense in the losing effort.
Terrell Wilkes and Kendall Morrison each had a scoring catch apiece for PRC.
Picayune free safety Xaiden Foxworth collected 20 total tackles.
