OCEAN SPRINGS — St. Martin ended three streaks with one single blow Thursday night.

The visiting Yellow Jackets flew into Greyhound Stadium here and knocked around arch-rival Ocean Springs 38-24 in the regular season finale for both teams. It marked the first win for St. Martin over OSHS in nine years, and just the second win the past 23 years. More importantly, the decisive win in this key Region 4-7A contest secured the third seed in the league standings for the Yellow Jackets, and consequently ended the season for the Greyhounds.

St. Martin qualifies for the state playoffs for the first time in eight years, while OSHS will miss the playoffs for the first time in nine years as well.

Yellow Jacket standout sophomore signal caller Dawsen Sullivan ran for 196 yards on 27 carries and one touchdown and he also threw for another score to lead the visitors to the historic win. His 20-yard scoring dash in the fourth period put SMHS up 38-21 and sealed the deal for his team.

He also hit his twin brother, Dawsen Sullivan, on a 22-yd TD strike that put SMHS up 23-8 at halftime.

That concluded a first half that also saw SMHS get a 14-yard scoring run from Charles Summers as well as a 1-yard touchdown plunge from Seth Crockett.

Trailing 23-8 at the half, Ocean Springs rallied to try and keep the fading hopes of keeping its season going alive as quarterback Chalmers Berglind hooked up with wide out Khalif Ragign for two scoring strikes in a four minute span to cut the deficit to 23-21 mid-way through the third frame.

An interception by Greyhound defender Natahan Graham set up the second score.

But, Crockett countered for SMHS with a 5-yard touchdown run just 3 minutes later to make it 31-23. And the scoring run by quarterback Sullivan in the final quarter ended things.

Berglind ended up with three touchdown tosses, all three going to Ragin.

Ocean Springs, West Harrison and Biloxi all ended in a 3-way tie for the fourth and final seed in Region 4-7A, but the Indians took the tie-breaker on point differential in the games between those three teams.

Defending state champ Gulfport is the one seed and Biloxi is the two seed.
